Should I be concerned my son's essay paper topic and title is "How to Make Your Mom Mad"? Then in his outline, he lists examples, which sound extremely familiar, on how exactly it is done. Red flags, anyone?! :)
I made the decision to purchase Hands-On-Essays from Bonita at Encouraging Words for Writers. Bonita made this easy-to-use curriculum FUN. It comes with a DVD starring her and her co-op students. Let's just say she has a way of making the lesson memorable! The kids and I love the DVD.
Is this a miracle cure for my two very reluctant writers? No, not yet. There is still moaning and groaning when it comes to actually writing...but there is always hope. And, hey, they will at least know how to write an essay even if they don't like to do it. Isn't that what teaching is about...giving them the knowledge?
If you are in the market for an essay writing curriculum for ages junior high and high school (I believe that is the age range), email Bonita (click on her name above) and she'll happily send you all the information you need to see if it is a good fit for your family.
Oh boy! I would love to read that one! :) Thanks for the info. I am going to check it out!
